The goal of a facial treatment is improvement, not perfection. The number of treatments necessary to address a concern will vary based on individual needs and concerns. Occasionally, guests will experience purging of the skin, caused by the opening of congested pores and increased blood flow. The purging may last from a few days to several weeks, depending on the extent of the skin congestion.

Wait 24 hours before applying acne products or other active products such as scrubs, astringents, lighteners, AHA, or Vitamin A.

Avoid excessive sun exposure following a facial. Exfoliation leaves our skin vulnerable, which can cause it to easily burn.

Microdermabrasion works by propelling microcrystals all across the skin in order to loosen and remove dead skin cells. This, in turn, improves the texture of the skin by rendering it smoother. It additionally promotes the production of collagen and new skin cells. This makes treating wrinkles, scarring, and many other skin issues the obvious benefits of microdermabrasion.

Our peels address many skin concerns, and we will design a peel combination that fits your needs. This professional-grade facial exfoliates dead skin and stimulates cellular renewal to improve both the health and appearance of your skin. Our estheticians will provide an in-depth consultation to decide what peel level works best for you.

Chemical peels are formulated with naturally derived sources, or are synthetically made to enhance the exfoliation of the skin. Exfoliating the skin helps keep the skin “active” which, in turn, will keep the skin more youthful.

It’s a similar process to exercising the body. When you exercise, your body functions better and your health is maintained. Exfoliating the skin helps to regulate and maintain the skin’s overall health. There are different types of exercises for treating certain areas of the body, and the same goes for chemical peels; each one is unique and has its own purpose.

Your esthetician will go over what to expect with the peel you will be receiving - your comfort is our top priority.
The strength of the chemical peel used will determine the activity - a tingling/burning sensation - felt on the skin. When the acid solution is applied, activity will be felt on the skin, but your esthetician will talk you through the process and make sure you are comfortable.

The following are common activities that are to be expected during the application of the peel:

  • Itching, prickling and/or heat

  • Flushing and slight swelling

  • Possible tenderness and sensitivity

  • Tightness

These instructions must be followed to ensure safe and effective results.

  • Discontinue use of AHA’s Retinols (5-6 days), depilatories, electrolysis, and exfoliating products (3-4 days) prior to receiving a peel.

  • Discontinue use of Accutane six months prior to receiving a peel. Extremely important!

  • If you are prone to cold sores, you most likely will need a prescription. Contact your MD.

  • Avoid any sun exposure to your face such as sun bathing, tanning, and going outside. Make sure to use SPF protection.

  • Do not increase body temperature the day of your peel. (i.e. exercising, cooking, and heavy lifting)

  • Do not allow direct water to spray onto your face.

  • Avoid sun exposure the day of your peel.

  • Use soothing/hydrating products. Your esthetician will recommend products during your appointment.

  • Do not wash your face until the day after you have had your peel.

  • During the healing phase (1-5 days), your skin will be extremely sensitive and will need a chemical free/mild cleanser. Absolutely nothing with AHA’s, BHA’s, or scrubs should be used.

  • Do not perform any other form of exfoliation for the first 6-7 days.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds, as this will cause post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation and will damage your new skin cells.

  • Apply a broad spectrum SPF 30 twice a day for the first 5-6 days. After that, it is recommended you apply SPF once daily. (Using SPF daily is normally recommended to use daily, not just after a chemical peel).

  • Do not pick, peel, or scratch your face! This will leave scars on your beautiful, new skin!
