SOUND HEALING

Our physical bodies are a collection of atoms and molecules, each constructed of energy and holding vibrational frequency. When we become out of alignment from the daily stresses of life, our cells and atoms become out of alignment, too. This misalignment, or blockage, can create body aches, premature aging, as well as physical and mental illness.

 

Sound healing rejuvenates the body by realigning the cells and atoms to their true vibrational frequencies. For thousands of years, the world over, sound has been used for promoting healing and creating deep states of well being and relaxation.  A complete immersion experience will help you feel balanced. It will calm the mind, relieve tension and stress from the body and leave you feeling renewed and rejuvenated.

YOGA NIDRA

Yoga Nidra is a powerful practice. It invites a state of consciousness between awake and asleep, often referred to as yogic sleep. The aim of this yoga practice is to guide the practitioner through the first stages of sleep with breathwork that triggers a relaxation response. From there, the body and mind are primed for deep rest and clarity through intention setting, meditation and systematically relaxing all parts of the body, one limb at a time.

WHAT IS A SOUND BATH

A Sound Bath at Brick Canvas is an experience in which gongs and sound bowls are played in a way to promote a more relaxed mind and nervous system. In a well-played sound bath, the healing power of sound will guide listeners on a journey of self-discovery and inner exploration.  While promoting deep relaxation, peace, and expansion of consciousness, the sound bath helps to open the body’s entire energetic system. The combined sound of gongs and bowls effectively relaxes the mind and body and helps one feel a greater sense of overall health and wellbeing.

 

WHAT DO I DO DURING A SOUND BATH?

During a sound bath, participants relax in a comfortable position, usually laying on their backs.  Participants are encouraged to listen and stay present with the sounds they are experiencing. Each sound bath experience is unique. For some people, more physical sensations are felt. For others, it may feel like an emotional journey. Some people will see colors, shapes, or images similar to a waking dream. Occasionally the sound bath will activate the higher mind and people will receive creative insights or work out issues they couldn’t solve prior. Generally, a deep state of relaxation of the body and mind is achieved and most people look and feel brighter and more relaxed after a sound bath.

Megan

Megan discovered yoga over 20 years ago as a teen.  At first, she went to class for the physical aspects of the practice. As her physical practice evolved, she began finding how yoga was beneficial for not only the physical body, but the mind and soul.

One of her favorite quotes is from the great yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, which states, “Everywhere looking only God seeing.”  Megan believes that yoga allows us to see God, or the Divine, in everything.  It opens our hearts and minds to something greater.  With the practice of Yoga and meditation, the mind becomes clear, we become more receptive and we can be reminded of these truths.  She hopes as she serves her students by sharing and teaching yoga and meditation, she will be able to radiate how powerful the practice of yoga and meditation is.  Megan is an E-RYT200 & RYT500 Yoga Alliance certified instructor.  She is a forever student. She has completed 4 trainings and counting, in yoga and meditation.  No doubt she will attend more. She is beyond thrilled and honored to share her passion for yoga.  It truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING TO CLASS:

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.

Bring the following:

  • Yoga mat

  • Meditation pillow (Zafu)

  • Blanket

  • Notebook and pen/pencil

  • Water

SOUND BATH ETIQUETTE:

  • Arrive clean and free of cologne, perfume, or strong essential oil scents.

  • Do not touch the sound bath instruments (even if you are super curious).

  • Arrive at least 10-15 minutes early so you can be sound bath ready at the scheduled start time.

  • Please no talking during the sound bath.
